I have noticed that if I use a single session of ABB to create many audiobooks, my available disk space shrinks pretty quickly, even though I am deleting the old MP3 files and emptying the trash. Then when I finally close ABB, I get the missing space back. One time I recovered 45G!

The problem is that I had my entire system crash in the middle of using ABB once. Even though I opened ABB, built another book, then closed, I did not recover the lost space from my previous session. Where exactly are temp files being created that get released when I close ABB? I know about the .ABBuilder-Temp-... folders but those don't seem to be the culprits. I believe I have about 10G missing right now that I would really like to recover.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

If you are reusing the same Audiobook Builder Project file, you could still have imported audio in the project file that was left in there after the crash. Check the size of your project file. If this is the culprit, just trash the project file and start a new one next time you create a new audiobook.

Project files are usually stored in the documents folder by default. Let us know if that helps!

The project file is 237K so that is not it. The question is really, what space gets freed only when exiting ABB? Last time I exited, I recovered over 10G. This was after building about 10 audio books. Simply closing the app freed the HD space.

If you have imported and deleted a lot of content from a single project file, all those files stick around until you make a decision to save or not save when leaving that project. Those files are then removed. So if you imported 10 books worth of content in a single project file in one session, those files will stick around inside the project file even if they are deleted from the chapters list. If you save the project at any point, it will remove all files that are not being currently used and free your HD space.
