I'm having the exact same problem, only since I updated to the latest version.

Can you create a system profiler report just after the errors and email it to us at Support@splasm.com? You can create the report by going to the Apple in the upper left of your screen, and selecting 'About this Mac...'. From there you will see a little window with 2 buttons on it. Click on the 'More Info...' button at the bottom. This will open the System Profiler application. While running System Profiler, go to the File menu and select 'Save'. This will pop up a window where you can choose where you are going to save your report. Once this is done, you can find your report where you have saved it and attach it to the email being sent to us.

I have the same problem. It only happens when the data is larger than 12 hours.

Did anyone resolve this issue? I've just hit it with one of my audiobooks, but I don't think it's related to size or length of the audiobook or parts, as I've converted books with more parts/which are longer/which are bigger without hitting this problem previously.

Anyone got any ideas? :)

The error message I'm receiving is:

Processing Audiobook
Writing Audiobook
Writing Part
Writing Chunk
Unable to write Chunk file

Just wanted to let everyone know we've found a couple of places where this can happen in Audiobook Builder 1.1.x. It's a combination of unwitting math error on our part and inability to export somewhat tiny amounts of audio data to MPEG-4 audio on QuickTime's part. We've set it up so Audiobook Builder 1.1.2 will avoid the issue altogether. Look for the 1.1.2 update in the next few days!

I too just got the chunk error message, although I had been using 1.1.2 for a while without any problems. It seems to be a size issue, as I was able to build the audio book if the parts were no longer than 14 hours or so (on low complexity).

Anyone know what's up?

Hi,
I'm having the same error using 1.1.2 building a book that is very close to 18 hours long (17:58:32.) I've been using Audiobook Builder for some time without having encountered this issue before. I've attached a screenshot and can send a system profile if desired. I've changed a few things with QuickTime recently including uninstalling DivX, installing Perian, and updating the Xiph plugins (I think I'd already upgraded to Snow Leopard before the last time I successfully used Audiobook Builder, but possibly not.) Perhaps one or more of those changes is the cause of this issue.

Mike

One major cause of -43 errors that we uncovered in preparing Audiobook Builder 1.1.3, and that may apply in your case, is that QuickTime allows us to get away with setting up an export that exceeds its 32-bit limitation (approximately 2.1 billion audio samples) but will fail when asked to go through with the export to MPEG-4/AAC. It works fine if you simply flatten the data to an MOV - but that's not how we roll. So, we had Audiobook Builder setting up each export to fit within the maximum length per the output audio sample frequency. If the output frequency is lower than the input source material's the maximum Target Length can exceed QuickTime's capabilities and the odds of an error -43 popping up, while not guaranteed, are rather good. In 1.1.2 you can usually work around this by setting the Target Length to something lower, trying to get it at or below the maximum allowed under QuickTime's 32-bit limit: 13 hours for 44.1kHz, 18 hours for 32kHz, 27 hours for 22.05kHz, and so on.

1.1.3 does a better job of handling this by examining the sample rate of all source material to be sure what goes into a single export doesn't exceed 2.1 billion samples. We're still testing 1.1.3 and you're welcome to test along with us. Drop us a line at feedback@splasm.com and we'll send the details. If the current beta doesn't resolve the -43 errors you're observing we'd like to know so we can zap whatever else may be causing them.

Would you mind sending us your Project so we can reproduce the error here? We auto-accept file transfers through iChat/AIM at screen name "splasmsoftware" without the quotes. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. I'm also unable to upload the zipped project file using ichat; I get the message "Waiting for Audio Book Builder to accept..." Apparently you are not automatically accepting files, even though you think that you are.
