Does it really take 3 hours to Build an audiobook?
I am new to Audiobook Builder and tried it for the first time last night using an audiobook file previously imported into iTunes. I was shocked when it took 3 hours to assemble the book, even though it already existed in iTunes. The book did contain 18 audio CD's, so it was not a small book. I have numerous books loaded into ITunes and I was hoping to convert them to the ABB format. Now I am thinking that I will grow old and die before this task can be completed. I purchased ABB because my new iPod Nano made it difficult to organize audiobook tracks into an easy-to-listen-to listing. This was not a problem with my little Shuffle, which I have been using for quite some time with few problems. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Thanks, Mike.

What Mac model do you have?

Including chapters does make it take some extra time.

if you used Passthrough it should definitly not take 3 hours. You said you had already imported them in itunes, but as mp3 or aac so you could use passthrough...?

I use a PowerBook G4 with 1.33GHz processor.
Since my original post I have converted several books to the AudioBuider format. The audiobooks I have i iTunes are a combination of ACC and MP3 file formats. I have noted that some of the time it takes a very long time to write/convert the files and other times it seems to take a long time to Build the book. Based on a response from ABB Support I am doing most all the work in the background or at night when I go to bed. I've completed 11 books now. I like the ability to easily drop the book cover onto the Cover page in ABB. No big deal but it looks nicer both in iTunes and on my iPod.
The software seems well worth the $10. I still don't think the iPod Nano makes it any easier to listen to a book. It just holds a lot more data than my Shuffle.
Thanks for your reply.
