I have created several audiobooks with ABB from files already in iTunes and ABB worked flawlessly. Today I tried to start importing my first audiobook from CDs and the program crashed right after importing the first CD without saving any of the data. I tried several times with the same result. I even re-booted the computer but that didn't help. I know I can import the CDs first into iTunes and then into ABB but that seems like a hassle. I am using the latest version of ABB and the latest Mac OS (10.5.3). Any ideas for me?

did you try other CDs?
it might be a problem with the cd.

and maybe you could show some crash reports
(Im not good at deciphering them, but Randy (the developer) might be)

Same thing here. It started immediately following the Quicktime update by Apple that was released 6/09. If you check the error message after the crash it eludes to a quicktime error. I don't think this is something that will be fixed by Apple. We can only hope that ABB comes up with a patch. Until then the software is totally useless, which is too bad because it was a great app.

Having the same issue here. Is there anyway to undo the Quicktime update?

I found an alternate way of importing CDs that is easy and acceptable. I just have iTunes open along with ABB. When the CD shows up in iTunes I just select all of the tracks and click on "Add iTunes" and voila, it imports the CD without first importing it into iTunes. It should work the other way, but oh well......

interesting method, but doesn't that mean that you are copying the original (uncompressed) files, which means 700 MB per cd, into your project? That would make it quite big..

No. It seems to be importing using the preferences checked at the beginning of the project, which in this case would be bookmarkable AAC, medium quality.

We're about to release a fix for the QuickTime 7.5 compatibility issue in Audiobook Builder 1.0.10.

For the technically inclined... With QuickTime 7.5 QTMovie's idle method is crashing when we hit three QTMovie objects in the same thread and we're in an NSModalSession. We don't need these QTMovie objects to be tasked anyway so we're now asking QTKit to not idle them at all.

Stay tuned. The update will be available very soon.

I downloaded the update today and it has now begun to crash for me. It gets to the end of the CD, starts to make the alert sound and crashes. I am up-to-date with Quicktime and am using OS 10.5.4. I ran Disk Utilities (Verify & Repair Permissions). I downloaded the update a 2nd time just to be sure. Any other ideas?

I was able to fix this problem. Rather than "replacing" Audiobook Builder in my Applications folder I had to delete the original app and then add the updated version.
