Just for the heck of it, I transferred the first part of Angels & Demons onto my wife's iPod Shuffle. Only one part will fit at a time on the shuffle). To my surprise it works except for the fact that the volume is so low I can just barely hear it. Tried using headphones with a volume switch but still the volume is very very low.....any suggestions would be appreciated

Is the same track playing at proper volume in iTunes?

Yes. It plays perfectly on my iPod 30gb. I moved the file from ITunes to the shuffle manually, not by syncing. The audiobook plays on the shuffle but it's the volume output that has me confused.

Do you have any other Audiobooks on the Shuffle? Do they play at the proper volume?

You can try this:
locate the track in iTunes,
Use Get Info on it
Go to Options (in the get info indow)
then set the volume adjustment to +100%
now sync it again to the shuffle and see if that helped..

you can also try to turn on/off sound check.
and make sure you are not limiting the volume on the ipod..

The music files play fine on the shuffle. I also tried the suggestions reference Setting the volume to +100 and turning off the sound check. This helped a little, but the volume is still low even with headsets that have a volume control. The volume with my iPod is excellent.....confused as to why the shuffle volume is different.
