If iCloud is having problems, then that could certainly lead to sync issues. But, you may want to check that the same iCloud document is being used still, just to be sure. First, Restart both computers. Then, open CheckBook Pro on the MacBook Air, go up to click the File menu at the top of the screen, and select the Move To option to ensure iCloud Drive is selected within the menu button labeled "Where". After that, open CheckBook Pro on the iMac, go up to click the File menu, and choose Show in Finder to see that you're taken to the same document within your iCloud Drive folder on there.
