Hi,
Just wondering if I specify categories in a split, should I also give the main "host" entry a category? Would the transaction show up twice in the summaries if I did?

Elliot,

If each split has its own category, the 'host' entry category won't apply. it will only apply if one or more of the split entries do not have a category of their own, then they will take on the 'host' category.

You won't get any double entries in summaries.
