I just upgraded to the new CheckBook 2 and when I try to open it, it automatically shuts down with the message 'The application CheckBook has unexpectedly quit'.

I am using a Mac with the operating system Mac OS X 10.3.9

An issue crept into CheckBook 2 just before we released and it's preventing it from launching properly on Mac OS X 10.3.9. We're investigating and we will get a fix out soon. In the meantime you can still use CheckBook 1.8.1 - available at http://www.splasm.com/checkbook1x/downloads.html if you need a fresh copy. We'll let you know as soon as we have a fix. Thanks for hanging in there.

Will the serial I purchased for Checkbook 2, not Pro, work for the older, 1.8.1 version?
