If you've just updated to CheckBook or CheckBook Pro 2.5 and the data from your older copy of the app isn't showing up, please don't worry. Your data should be safe. CheckBook or CheckBook Pro just needs your help to know what to do.

If these instructions don't seem to work, please contact us at support@splasm.com so we can get started with you right away. We just need a little help from you to get things working right on your end.

CheckBook 2.5 users

1. Open CheckBook 2.5.

2. Go to the File menu and click the Open... menu item.

3. On your keyboard, hold down the Command and Shift keys with one hand, then press the G key with your other hand, all at the same time. A sheet will appear.

4. Paste the following into the Go to the folder: field, including the tilde (~) at the beginning:

~/Library/Containers/com.splasm.checkbook2/Data/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2

5. Click the Go button and you should be taken to a CheckBook 2 folder, where you'll see a few files, including one named Accounts.plist. If the folder isn't there, there are a few other locations to try. Don't forget the tilde (~) at the beginning of each:

~/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2
~/Library/Application Support/CheckBook 2

If you're coming from CheckBook 1.x, try this folder:

~/Library/CheckBook

If these don't work, don't worry. Your data is still on your Mac and all we have to do is find it together. Send a message to support@splasm.com and we'll get you up and running.

6. Open the Accounts.plist file you found in step 5.

At this point, CheckBook 2.5 will tell you it needs to update the data in the file. Click the Continue button and you'll be asked where to save the new Accounts document. Choose somewhere document-y, like, your Documents folder, and click the Create button. Your data should appear. A document should appear where you specified. You're in good shape.

CheckBook Pro 2.5 users
