What's the difference between command-s and clicking the red button?

Is there an advantage to physically saving?

There's no difference - the Accounts file is saved the same way in both cases. The Save Changes feature comes in handy for users who suspect their Mac is unstable and would like to save their work but continue using CheckBook.
