I just checked Wachovia's website but couldn't find a declaration that they let you download your transactions as a file, in either QIF or OFX/QFX. I then did a bit of research and found where some MoneyDance users were concerned about the lack of support from Wachovia, yet one user mentioned you could download in Microsoft Money format (OFX), then import into MoneyDance. This indicates they at least allow their customers to export to OFX, an option that may foretell a CheckBook-friendly QIF export button somewhere nearby.
I suggest you look closely at all of the options available on Wachovia's online banking pages to see if and what formats they export to. If they do not clearly label each option with a note about the actual file format, ie. QIF, OFX, QFX, then try downloading each and examining them with TextEdit. The two basic formats can be told apart by the extraordinary number of <> brackets in OFX/QFX - of which QIF will typically have almost none. If it turns out that OFX is their only export format then there is still the option of converting the OFX export to QIF using the freeware Ofx2Qif, available at
http://www.geocities.com/ivansalina/download.html. We've heard from several CheckBook users that this tool works well for them.
If you take the time to explore the options, please consider a follow-up post here to let other users know your findings. Thanks!
