I purchased checkbook pro this year and have been pleased so far. I was previously using Quicken. Now that the end of the year is approaching I am starting to use the summary reporting and filtering features to isolate specific categories for tax purposes. As near as I can tell the split category filtering option does not work correctly. For example, I am trying to list all of my medical expenses for 2009 to date. I have tried filtering using the general, category and split category option. It only works in a non-split situation. I think the filter may have a bug. I get similar results when I use the summary function. So then I tried using your export function thinking that I could just manipulate the data myself. Once again I was disappointed to find out that the split transactions were not imported. This is a MAJOR flaw!!! As a last recourse I thought about using the "tax deduction" field. I would need to go through all my 2009 transactions and assign the indicator but if it worked that would at least be ok going forward. But then realized that you can't assign it at a split line level ... only the main entry. Once again the split level let me down. I rely on the category to come up with my personal tax deductions each year and all of my credit card payments are split. It's just as important to report on and find things at a split level. Please let me know if there's any other suggestions you have. If I can't effectively report from your app then I may have to go elsewhere. Thanks! |
