Just registered AB - it's great, I've been looking for something like this for ages.

I've one significant feature request: it would be very useful if there were an option to trim tracks when they're imported (both start and end). This feature is required to skip the "This is CD X" that intros many audiobook CDs. When an audiobook's tracks are in iTunes as separate tracks, this is possible (but not terribly convenient) by setting the Start Time (and Stop Time), but when AB has joined the tracks into chapters of one track, even that doesn't work anymore. It's jarring to be engrossed in the story when all of a sudden "This ends CD X" / "This is CD Y" needlessly interrupts.

Ideally the trim would work as follows:
- the import CD dialog should have a Trim Start and Trim End entry fields (i.e. trim X seconds from First Track, trim Y seconds from Last Track)
- the default values should default to whatever the last CD was (or 0 for the first CD / new project)
- there should be 'preview' buttons to play the audio that is to be cut

Once imported, the trim values should be shown and editable in the Chapters pane (in Show Details section?). This way you could also trim tracks imported from file or iTunes.

While I'm at it: a minor request: it would be convenient if AB could allow the user to set the other track meta-data, including Year and Genre, in addition to author and cover art. Also, AB should set the track number info (track x of y).

Rgds,
Ben

I would also find the ability to trim from the ends of tracks useful, though I can easily see that it could be a huge issue from a user interface and implementation standpoint. Consider it a "nice to have" request from me.

I will second the request to change the Genre which is automatically applied to new tracks output by Audiobook Builder. Currently it is hard-coded to be "Audiobooks" but I would like to drop the "s", as other sources for audiobooks use different Genres, and I've consolidated down to just "Audiobook".

Regarding the request to set the track number, this really isn't something the user should have to do. For shorter audiobooks, there will usually only be one track. For longer audiobooks, or if the user changes the max length preference, Audiobook Builder should just set the track xx of yy automatically (it does not do this now).

hi

Came across this!

Have found it an excellent way to trim the audio files - it allows you to save the audio file rather than reencode it, so the quality of your file remains the same
