Hi All - I have 7 files making up a total of 6 odd hours of material.

No matter what I do, I cannot get iTunes to show the resulting file with chapters and next/back shuttle controls just skip to other books.

Is there a setting I'm missing? I looked at a few other thread like this, but don't seem to see what I could be doing wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Bill

Erm I'm not sure what to make of this. No replies to anyone in years but still selling brand new licenses?

How do we get help?

Bill

HAH!
I was just about to ask this very same question.

Abandonware is prevalent. Might have to start posting negative reviews on Apple Store.

It's great to make an easy file for iTunes, but I just downloaded a file from Audible for a book and lo-and-behold .. it's only one file without chapters!

After I upgraded to Mac OS 10.15 and AudioBook Builder V 2.1 (284) I no longer have chapters in my books either. I am using iPod classics for my Audio Books and "restored" them when I started using the new Mac OS, now even the Audio Books that I built prior to the software upgrade no longer have chapters.

Apparently we don't.

Hello friends!

I've no explanation for how the original post got shuffled and we didn't reply. In general, we're cranking out replies to email support, usually less than an hour after receipt, answering our support line, and working on improvements to all of our applications every weekday. Allan has posted replies several times in the past few months, so this message really did just fly under the radar. This past week, however, was a vacation week and I just checked in and happened upon this message. I apologize that no one has replied with some help and vow to ensure we check the forums for new messages at least once per weekday going forward.

iTunes will show chapter stops in a "Chapters" menu, to the right of the Window menu, when an audiobook is actually being played. Begin playback of an audiobook in iTunes, then look to the right of the Window menu at the top of your screen and you'll see the Chapters menu.

And on to the question about audiobooks, chapter stops, and iPod Classic:

iPod Classic never had the ability to show a list of chapters - only tick marks on the playback scrub/progress bar that you could switch between with the Skip Backward/Forward buttons. iOS devices brought in the ability to display a list of chapters so you could begin playback at any particular chapter. An upgrade to Catalina wouldn't change the audiobooks you'd already built, or the software on an iPod, so for the chapters to disappear we'd first wonder, are there really chapters in the file to begin with? Send us one at support@splasm.com and we'll have a look!

I have "converted" some CD books to an audiobooks. Now my iPhone will put the audiobook playlist in Books rather than iTunes. Though on my desktop they are still stored there and added via playlist to my iPhone. Old machine,

There are no chapters or bookmarking available when listening through Books. Is there a setting the Audiobook Builder that I should be using to have chapters show up? Or is this just an unhappy "feature" of Book?

I haven't purchased any books from Apple to be able to determine if chapters would be available.

Either way, still doesn't stop me from listening and enjoying. Still has the timer function but need to take a screen shot to mark when I started the countdown.

Hi everyone! Looks like macOS 10.15.2 resolves the issue with getting chapter stops synced over to your favorite Apple devices. We tested with a 4th-generation iPod and an iPhone running iOS 13.3 and both received chapter stops just like in the good ol' Mojave days. You have our permission to update to 10.15.2  .

Edit: To clarify, updating your Mac won't retro-sync chapter stops. You'll need to remove audiobooks synced with 10.15 or 10.15.1 and sync them to your devices again to get chapter stops for those audiobooks.
