Very simply I have my maximum part length set to 1 hour. I have 2 mp3s each 5 hours and change. The finish panel summary lists this as parts 2.

Is ABB terrible at maths or is something else going on here?

Audiobook builder will not split an audio file. it will keep each file intact, and instead split parts between files. So it will do its best to hit the part length size using whole files, not partial files.

So if you had one 20 hour mp3 (unlikely I know but for the sake of argument) you would end up with one 20 hour m4b?

That seems... impractical.
