I am getting the following error message when loading a large 924.6 mb mp3 file. Audiobook Builder 1.1.5 Adding Files File duration is invalid This file has an invalid duration. It is likely the file exceeds the maximum length allowed by QuickTime for the file's audio sample frequency. File: /Users/ronaldhord/Desktop/Audacity Try/ Dan Brown - The Da Vinci Code.mp3 Sample Rate: 44100.0 hz Duration: 57790.09 seconds System configuration: Audiobook Builder 1.1.5 MacBook Pro 3.06 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB OS 10.6.2 running in 32 bit mode |

This is an issue that can be run into by QuickTime (which we use to process audio) when it hits the wall with its 32 bit limit. At 44100 hz, the maximum file duration is 48695 seconds. In order to process this file, you will need to break it up into at least 2 chunks, each coming in under the 48695 second limit. You can do this by using the start stop settings within iTunes and import a piece, then readjusting the start stop times to the next section and import the same file again. This should give you the file in pieces small enough for QuickTime and Audiobook Builder to process. You can get to the start stop times by selecting your track in iTunes, and then going to the 'Get Info' menu option under the File menu at the top of the screen. You will find the start stop times under the 'Options' tab. |

are there any better ways to work around this? any 3rd party software that would let me break up a directory of MP3 that are all too big for Audiobook Builder in one hit? |

I'm wondering if the approach to this has changed since this post was created. iTunes has had several iterations since then. If there is a better way I'd like to know about it since I have a file with the same issue importing into ABB. |

Setting different Start/Stop times and performing multiple exports is still the best way to break up a file using iTunes. |
