Post subject:  error 42 on CD import

Just tried importing two different audiobooks from CD and both yielded a similar error on most (but not all) of the CDs. All of these CDs imported just fine into iTunes, when I tried that approach.

Audiobook Builder 1.1.4
Importing
Unable to copy a temporary file
Source: /Volumes/The Enemy/23 Sacred Stone 8 W.aiff
Destination: /var/folders/fa/faBMs3H0HRC6+cvEFQqEPk+++TI/-Tmp-/.audiobookbuildercdimporttemp.22
File error: 42

Can you please provide a fix or workaround?

Error 42 is a disk read error. Actually, it's a situation where Mac OS X tells us it's successfully copied a file from the CD but, in fact, it hasn't - the byte count of the copy doesn't match the byte count of the original. We usually see a disk I/O error on the CD/DVD device at the same time as the error in Audiobook Builder. iTunes reads data from the CD in a different way and sometime it works around the issue and sometimes it doesn't. Would you guys mind getting the error to happen again in Audiobook Builder, then creating a System Profiler report and sending it to us at support@splasm.com?

Hi Keith,

I had this happen twice with the same CD. After I saw that you said the 42 was a disk read error, I gave the CD a little more spit and polish and the disk sailed through. Sorry I couldn't get the error to occur again. But I'm pleased that I could read the disk.

Thanks, Hal
