the default file name is".mov" but with this I can not edit artwork, I have discovered that if I change ".mov" to ".m4v" i can now edit the artwork.
I can see times were I would like to choose between them before I start

That's...peculiar.

You can set the poster frame for your movies in Podner before sending them to iTunes, but if you want arbitrary artwork you're right - you'll need to change the file extension. We explicitly bucked Apple on the file extension for two reasons:

1. ".m4v" is for "raw" MPEG-4 - without audio, not the MPEG-4 and H.264 you would move to your iPod.

2. If you tell Podner to use custom encoding settings or preserve original encoding you won't necessarily create an MPEG-4 or H.264. ".mov" is more appropriate for general use.

We'll think on how to make file naming easier. The first thing that comes to mind is the potential confusion for users if they are given two naming fields - one for the movie's title, which appears in the Name column in iTunes, and the other for the file name.

CRAPOLA - I didn't realize this group was here - sorry for the crosspost.

I WANT the default filename extension to be '.mov' - but in my case, it comes out '.mp4' - I am selecting "H.254, Multipass" for the encoder option.

How do I change the preferences so I can get .mov instead of ,mp4?

Original message I posted (into the wrong group, I guess) is below:

First, the encoded files are coming out with the '.mp4' extnsion. Okay, fine. But it's becoming a pain in the arse to get my host administrator to add the .mp4 mime type (what a headache).

SO - after encoding my movies for Podcasting, I have to go in and change the extensions to '.mov' and, for each one, handle the nag screen that asks if I'm sure or would I rather keep the original extension.

CRAPOLA. (OS-X, not you) :)

Can you add a little option that allows me to choose the desired file extension? Like a little radio button or checkbox or something?

Is there a way to change this in the PLIST or PREFERENCE file manually or something?

I can create iPod compatible files with FinalCut Pro - but I bought Podner for it's wonderful batch abilities.

PLEASE HELP!

Oh, yeah - GREAT little utility. Thanks for creating it - it's a life - and time saver (except for the renaming of files) :)

Thanks.
